Choosing the Right Location for Garden Furniture
The right garden furniture gives the garden an additional function and enhances its beauty at the same time but only if it is placed on the right location. Where to place it is of course completely up to your personal preferences but there are several factors you should pay attention to when choosing the right location for garden furniture in order to be able to achieve the desired visual effect and optimal functionality.
The size of the chosen area should be large enough to provide a comfortable sitting area. Placing garden furniture on a site that barely has enough space to accommodate it takes away a great deal of comfort and functionality, especially if you want to use it as the main outdoor sitting area. The chosen location should also have as easy access as possible.
Before you place your garden furniture on the chosen location, it is a good idea to pave or tile the site. Unfortunately, garden furniture which would be resistant to dirt does not exist and simply placing it on the lawn for instance dramatically increases cleaning frequency required to keep it beautiful. In addition, heavy traffic typically causes damage to the lawn and affects the overall visual appeal of the sitting area. An eventual exposure of the soil further increases the frequency of cleaning required but it can also affect durability of your garden furniture because it prolongs its exposure to moisture which is problematic for most types of materials from which garden furniture is made. Placing garden furniture on unpaved and untiled area also makes it more likely to become a home to insects.
It is possible to find garden furniture which is resistant to moisture and can be left out in the rain, however, it is a good idea to place it under some sort of roof for convenience reasons. With a roof above the garden furniture, you will be able to enjoy outdoors even during the rain and protect yourself (and your furniture) from intense UV light during hot summer days. If your garden furniture is made from a material which is not naturally resistant to outdoor conditions, a roof will help you significantly extend its durability.
In the end, it is a good idea to place your garden furniture at a reasonable distance from your home. You do not have to place your garden furniture right next to the house, however, you should not place it too far away either especially if you would also like to use it to entertain your guests. That way you will avoid long trips to the house just to get a glass of water. If you would like to enjoy some time alone in your garden, consider placing a bench on more distant areas of your garden.
